Detroit, MI—The Detroit Lions have named Sam Mullet of Bear Lake High School the week six recipient of the 2025 Detroit Lions High School Football Coach of the Week Program, presented by Carhartt. Mullet’s Lakers defeated Mesick 56-8 to move to 4-2 on the season. Through six games, the Lakers have scored 304 points, averaging 50.7 points per game, playing 8-player, Division 2 football. On Friday, October 10th, Bear Lake travels to Brethren to take on the Bobcats in the 10th matchup all-time between these two programs.
Mullet is in her 8th season coaching high school football and in her 3rd season as head coach at Bear Lake where she became the first female in the state of Michigan to lead an 8-player or 11-player varsity football program. Mullet has completed coaching internships with the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills. She has also served as the Director of Football Operations for Tift County High School in Georgia under former Lowell (MI) and current Chelsea (MI) High School head coach and 2004 Detroit Lions High School Football Coach of the Year, Noel Dean. Mullet is a 2012 graduate of Bear Lake High School.
