Zach VanOrman

Zach is the son of Christopher and Laurie VanOrman. He has one sister, Sarah, a freshman at Butler University. His family is a major component in his success. 

Zach has always been a big football fan. He began cheering for the Michigan Wolverines, the Green Bay Packers, and the Hillsdale College Chargers. He eventually started playing in the third grade and fell in love with the game. Zach was a three-year varsity player. He started both ways his junior and senior season as the left tackle and a defensive end. He played on a team that made its 11th and 12th consecutive playoff births, including a team that finished 11-1 and won a district championship. Zach was a captain his senior year, a two-time 1st Team All Conference player, a two-time Jackson Citizen Patriot Dream Team player. He was voted First Team All State by the Detroit Free Press and was named the Team MVP his senior year. He also led the team in tackles his senior season. 

Zach was a member of the varsity basketball team for three seasons, and was a captain for two of those seasons. Over those three regular seasons, the team went a combined 51-9, won 2 District Championships and two League Titles. Zach was also a member of the National Honors Society, and will finish in the Top 10 of his class.

Zach thanked his family “for their undying support.” He thanked Coach Lemerand, Coach Felix, Coach McCavit “and all the other coaches throughout my career for their valuable lessons.” He also thanked the “Senior Sensations” and all of his friends “for their camaraderie, and everyone else who has helped make me the person I am today.
