The son of Anthony Morris and Teresa Mayo, Tyler has one sister, Antoinette, who has two daughters, Kaitlynn and Adrian.

Tyler started playing football in sixth grade with the Dundee Vikings and has played every year since. As a freshman, he was pulled up to play with the varsity as a defensive end. The Vikings lost in the first round of the playoffs. As a sophomore, he moved to linebacker and continued in that position for the rest of his high school career. He added an offensive position, center, to his repertoire as a junior and in his senior season played tight end. The Vikings had three different head coaches in Tyler’s four years, but everything came together in his final year. As a senior captain, Tyler had 116 tackles, 12.5 sacks, 21 tackles for loss. He also had 3 receptions for 84 yards and a TD in eight games. Under Head Coach Kyle McElvany Tyler helped lead the team to a 5-4 season, a big turn-around from the previous season’s 0-9 record. “Tyler was the heart and soul of our defense,” Coach McElvany said.

Tyler also wrestled, was a captain and was All LCAA competing at heavyweight with a 26-13 record. As a senior he was part of the Vikings’ Team State Championship.

Tyler will continue his academic and athletic career at Concordia University Ann Arbor. Tyler said, “I have many people to thank! My Mom, for always supporting me through everything and doing everything she could to make sure I had the tools to be successful in my high school athletic career. My Dad, who gave me great advice as to what I would be best doing and kept me determined to work hard towards my goals. My Aunt Christy, Grandma, and my two cousins, Emily and Savannah, who were at every game possible, and were there to see me sign with Concordia. All the Coaches I have had through the years; Coach Mac, did everything and more for me; Coach Oestrike, showed me how to be confident; Coach Roberts, who encouraged my aggressiveness; Coach Roe, taught me the fundamentals of football; Coach Stevens, believed in me through all the struggles involved with wrestling; Coach Garno, taught that attitude controls your life; Coach Clark, put in ‘after-work’ time to help me improve; Coach Kozman, crafted me into the big hitter that I am; and Coach Kit Daniels, who has inspired me to play my best in every game every game.
