Robert has two children, D’Andre (20) and Summer (19). He is the son of Simon and Diane Hunt. He graduated from Detroit Central High School in 1986. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education from Grand Valley State University. Coach Hunt was an All-State football and baseball player in high school. At Grand Valley he was an All GLIAC performer. Robert Had three stints in Arena football. While a quarterback for 18 years for the Detroit Seminoles Football Club, he won three National Championships and two National Player of the Year awards.

Robert will begin his 23rd year of coaching and teaching. His coaching career began at Detroit Central (1991-1998) under Hall of Fame coach Woodrow “Woody” Thomas before becoming Head Coach at Detroit Kettering (1999-2003). He went on to Detroit Pershing (2004) and back to Detroit Central (2005) as an assistant, prior to becoming head coach at Detroit Osborn (2006-2009). He then accepted,”My greatest job to date”, in becoming head coach of his alma mater. He said, “I am very blessed to be able to coach the wonderful game of football and give back what so many great men taught me, which was to have love, passion and faith.”

Robert has guided teams to nine MHSAA playoff appearances, one PSL title, two District titles, three PSL Runners-Up and one All State Academic Team.
