Nate played at Haslett for four years. His sophomore year he played junior varsity for half the year and then started as quarterback for the last six games. For those six games he passed for 400 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 245 yards and two touchdowns. His junior year he started as quarterback for all ten games and threw for 870 yards and 12 touchdowns (a school record) and ran for 690 yards with ten touchdowns. As a senior, Nate started as quarterback and also at free safety. Offensively, Nate threw for 1030 yards with 15 touchdowns (a school record) and ran for 950 yards and 12 touchdowns. Defensively, Nate had 8 interceptions and 57 solo tackles with 19 pass break-ups. Nate was on punt return where he scored 3 touchdowns with 250 yards. Nate was a two-year starting captain. He was the first junior captain under Coach Otlewski and broke three school records: 15 touchdowns passing, passing yards in one season, and most points by an individual in one season. He was named the team’s and coaches’ Most Valuable Player offensively.

Nathan was also a three-year starter on the Haslett varsity basketball team.

Nate said, “I would like to thank my whole entire family for all the support you gave me throughout all my years. Thank you to all my brothers (teammates), and my last thank you is to Coaches Otlewski, Porritt, Bubolz, Bott, Bain, Hamilton, Bird, Woody, and Delaney, you all have showed me the door to be the best football player, and you all have been so good to me and I thank you for all the memories that you have given me from a little boy to a high school grad. You all will never be forgotten.”
