Michael was a three-year starter for the Fruitport Trojans. He played many positions including quarterback, running back, split end, linebacker, and free safety. He was a two-way starter for all three years. As a senior, he was selected as team captain, and helped his team to a 10-1 record. His senior year he rushed for 1300 yards, 15 touchdowns and had over 60 tackles.

Michael also played four years of varsity baseball for the Trojans.

Michael thanked, “The Lord for blessing me with athletic ability, my parents and my sister for everything you have done for me, my grandma and grandpa for being the ‘special people’ that you are and the rest of my family for supporting me the way that you have.” He also thanked his coaches: Steve Wilson, Larry Rueger, Greg Vargas, Steve Roup, and Roque Ybarra. He gave special thanks to Coach Mark Hufnagel “for everything you have done to make me a better football player.” He thanked, “all my close friends and teammates for the great season we had and for all the memories we shared.” Michael received a football scholarship from the Division II National Champions, Grand Valley State University.
