As a junior, Max was selected to the OK Gold All Conference Team and South Advance All Area Team as a defensive tackle. In his senior year Max began playing both defensive tackle and tight end, starting at both positions. Max also played three years of varsity basketball.

Max is a true team player and in high school was surrounded by a group of outstanding football players and a dedicated hard-working coaching staff. As a result, Max and his teammates, under the guidance of their coaches won the 2005 Division 3 High School Football State Championship.

Max thanked his parents, brothers, and many family members for all their support throughout the many years he has been involved in sports. A special thanks was given to all his teammates on the State Championship team for their hard work, dedication and a life-time of memories. Max said, “I have a deep gratitude toward the entire football coaching staff at Caledonia High School and especially to head coach Tom Burrill and assistant coach Pat Gillies for their guidance and positive influence. They challenged me in many ways to be the best on and off the field.” Finally, “but very importantly” Max thanked, “all of the Caledonia Fighting Scot fans and the entire Caledonia community for all their support. This support did not go unnoticed and was appreciated by every member of the football team.” Max also “personally” thanked the Caledonia business community for providing the financial support to participate in the All Star game. “Their contributions are greatly appreciated.”
