Assistant Coach Jim Hilgendorf

Johannesburg-Lewiston Area High School

 

Coach Hilgendorf graduated from Corunna High School in 1966. He lettered in football, baseball, and track. Following high school he attended Michigan State University and earned his B.A. in 1970, M.A. in 1972, and EdS in 1991.

 

Jim’s career began as a head football coach in Rapid River, where he built the program into a perennial winner. He retired from football in 1985 to pursue a career in administration. Two years after becoming superintendent at Johannesburg-Lewiston in 1992, an opportunity to be varsity assistant to Coach Fred Davis became available and Jim has served in that capacity for the past 11 years. During his twenty-six years of coaching, Jim has compiled a 159-75 record with two Regional Coach of the Year awards, one MHSFCA Assistant Coach of the Year award and nine playoff appearances.

 

Coach Hilgendorf  said, “I am very honored and excited to be selected to coach in the 2005 All Star Game. I want to thank all of the coaches and players I have had the privilege of working with over the last 33 years, and I would like to thank my wife Cathy, daughter Kimberly (36), son Jim (28), step-daughter Mary Beth (27). and step-sons Jamie (29), and Jeff (25).”
