Jay started playing little league football in Pontiac at the age of nine. He moved to Memphis and played two years on the varsity football team starting at running back and safety. In his senior season, he missed five games with a knee injury but still led the team in rushing yards and touchdowns. He also broke five school records: most rushing yards in a game, most rushing yeards in a season, most rushing touchdowns in a career, most TD’s in a season, most TD’s in a career. As one of the team’s captains, he also helped lead the team to an 8-2 record with the most points scored in school history.

Jay thanked, “God first of all for all of my blessings and putting me in a great position.” He also thanked his parents, “for all they have done for me.” He thanked coach Watkins, “for everything he has done, from all the recruiting to the little things and for being a very supportive family friend.” Jay also thanked “Coach G, for his help in recruiting and being a great coach and a great guy.” Lastly, he thanked, “my 2008 football team for giving me the best football year I’ve ever had with great memories to look back on.”

Jay will continue his academic and football careers at Saginaw Valley State University.
