Jarrell was a four-year starter for King, as an inside linebacker. He excelled on the football field where he helped lead the Crusaders to two Public School League City Championships in his freshman and sophomore years and state playoff berths in 2003 and 2004. In his junior and senior years he was named team captain. Jarrell finished his varsity career with 620 tackles, 5 interceptions, 12 forced fumbles and 23 sacks.

“First and foremost,” Jarrell thanked, “My Lord Jesus Christ for giving me the talent and abilities to play the great game of football. I also thank my mom for getting me started in the game. She was at every game videotaping every down just so I could watch the film and better myself for it. I thank my Grandma for all the meals she cooked and the words of encouragement. I also thank ‘Big Daddy’ for the rides to and from practice and anywhere else I needed to be. I thank all the coaches who helped me develop. As for my teammates, ‘fellows thank you for four great years.”
