Jaleel is the son of Yolanda Sherrer. He has two brothers. 

Jaleel has played football since seventh grade. He was a four-year starter for the Lansing Everett Vikings and a captain for two years. Jaleel was a three-year CAAC Blue Division All Conference player and a two-time All State receiver. In his four years of varsity football, Jaleel played receiver, cornerback, and punt and kick returner. Jaleel was also selected to the Detroit Free Press All State Dream Team during his senior season as cornerback.

Jaleel played four years of varsity basketball and ran track for four years, as well. He received All State awards for track his junior year. He also received All Conference awards for each of his first three track seasons.

Jaleel thanked his “coaches, teammates, teachers, mentors, family, and God for guiding me, not only as an athlete, but as a young man and for molding me into who I am today.”
