Jacob’s parents are John and Christa Matus. He has an older sister, Katie (20), and younger sister, Sarah (15).

Jake started his football career in seventh grade at Flushing Middle School. He was a starter at Flushing High School on varsity football all four years. In his freshman year he was the kicker and punter. Starting as a sophomore and through his senior year he was the kicker, punter and a wide receiver. Jake led the team in receptions and receiving yards starting in his sophomore year and was a captain as a senior. In his junior year Flushing won their District championship.

Jacob was a member of Varsity Club all four years and was the Vice President his senior year. Jake was also a member of SLO (Student Leader Organization) for three years and a member of Student Council for two years. He was also on the varsity basketball team sophomore through senior year.

Jake said, “I thank my parents for always supporting me and also my sisters and grandparents. I thank the entire Flushing coaching staff for pushing me to become the best athlete and person I can be, and my teammates and friends for always being there for me and for the great memories.”
