Giarmo2007 All Star Coach East

Assistant Coach Jack Giarmo
Monroe St. Marys Catholic Central High School

Jack Giarmo, a lifetime resident of Monroe, has had the privilege of coaching at his alma mater, St. Mary Catholic Central (1981), for the past nine years.  After a successful high school football career, Jack continued playing football at Western Michigan University, where he earned a BBA degree in Marketing (1985).  He currently owns a real estate company, Coldwell Banker Haynes Real Estate, operating five offices in Monroe County and Toledo, Ohio.

Coach Giarmo took over a football program, rich in tradition, from his own high school coach, Joe Sandersen.  Coach Giarmo worked hard to return SMCC to a state perennial power.

Coach Giarmo was named Huron League Coach of the Year in 2000, 2005, and 2006.  In 2004, he was named Monroe County Region Coach of the Year, as well as MHSFCA Region Coach of the Year.
The Giarmo family has a rich history of involvement in the Michigan High School All-Star Game.  Jack played for the East team in the first Michigan All-Star Game (1981).  His cousin, Bill Giarmo, coached the West team in 1999.  His brother, Gasper Giarmo, coached the West team in 2002.  His son, Anthony Giarmo, a first team All-State linebacker (2006), honorable mention All-State linebacker (2005), second team All-State baseball infielder (2005), will be playing for the East team this year.

Coach Giarmo stated, “I am honored to be selected as one of the coaches for this game.  I’ve been involved with this all star game since the beginning, being selected to play in the first Michigan All-Star game in 1981.  I know first-hand what an incredible experience this will be for these young men.  I am especially excited to be able to coach my son Anthony for one final game.”

Coach Giarmo and his wife, Tracie, have been married for 21 years.  They have two children, Anthony (18) and Carlie (16).
