Hank Chlebek is a 1967 graduate of Wyandotte Roosevelt , where he played football for the Bears. He received his Bachelor’s degree in social studies from West Liberty State College in 1972 and was a member of the 1970 league champion football team. In 1978 he earned a Masters Degree in Special Education from Eastern Michigan University.
    In 1973, he began his coaching career at Wyandotte Mt. Carmel as an assistant to Joe Benso, where they won three Catholic League Championships. Hank returned to his alma mater in 1978 as an assistant to Doak Markley and took over as head coach in 1980. After six seasons and one league championship he took two years off and returned in 1988 as an assistant to John Mitroka. He has continued to coach at Wyandotte, working on the coaching staffs of Bart Estola, Rod Baker, and Ron Adams. In that time the Bears have won five league championships and have made six playoff appearances.
    Hank has been married to Karen for 34 years and has two sons, David (25) and Thomas (24). He thanked his family, especially Karen, for all the support and sacrifices they have made to enable him to continue to coach for 35 years. In 2006 Hank was honored by the MHSFCA with his induction into the Michigan High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame. Hank said, “I thank the MHSFCA for the opportunity to Coach in the 2009 All Star game and it is with great pride that I represent Wyandotte and all the players and coaches I have had the privilege to work with.”
