Grant graduated from Saline High School in 1987. Grant was a member of the 1987 All Star Game where he played defensive back on the West squad. Grant also played basketball and baseball at Saline High School. After high school Grant went to Hillsdale College where he played for Dick Lowery. Grant played and lettered from 1987-1991. Grant had a great experience playing college football. He was a part of 1988 GLIAC championship team. While at Hillsdale, Coach Lowery and Defensive Coordinator Dave Dye helped influence Grant to pursue a career in education. Currently Grant is teaching 8th grade science at Saline Middle School. He has taught and coached for 16 years. Grant has been the defensive coordinator at Chelsea High School for the last eleven years.
    Grant is married to Andrea. They have been married for a year and a half. “She has been very supportive as a ‘new football wife.’ I really appreciate and value her input.” She has been very flexible with our hectic schedule in the fall. I’m lucky to have her, said Grant.” Grant thanked, “the many coaches that I played for, played against, coached with, and coached against. I’ve learned a lot throughout the years about how to teach, coach, and compete. I’ve been really lucky to work with so many great people.” He added, “I would give a special thank you to my wife, my mom, and my dad, Terry McNutt, Ray Larned, Wayne Welton, Tom Kanka, and Brad Bush.” He also thanked “all the former players that I’ve coached for their support and hard work and the entire coaching staff at Chelsea. Our staff is tremendous!”
    “It’s an incredible honor to be selected to coach in the 2008 All Star Game. I thank the MHSFCA for allowing me the opportunity to spend a week coaching the best players in the State of Michigan. As a player in the All Star game I have great memories of my experience. I know that coaching in this game will be one of the highlights of my coaching career.”
