At age six Keymonn’e tried baseball first and made the coaches happy when they saw he was ambidextrous. He made the team but did not have any love for the game. After a pick-up football game with his cousins, Keymonn’e was sold on football. His father took him to a tryout with the Detroit PAL league’s Panthers the same day. During the time he played with the Panthers he received numerous awards. At Detroit Loyola, as a Bulldog he started on the varsity team as a freshman linebacker and spent some time at running back and special teams. As a sophomore he received All League and All Catholic honors. In his junior year as a Bulldog he averaged 5.4 tackles a game and carried the ball 88 times for 821 yards and also made All League and All Catholic honors. As a senior and the primary running back for the Bulldogs, he led the state in rushing yards and scoring and received All State Honors.
