Frank Lietke

Frank was a three-year starter for the Walled Lake Central Vikings under Coach Chuck Apap. Frank played center his sophomore year and tackle and defensive end his junior and senior years. He was team captain for the Vikings in both his junior and senior seasons.

In addition to football Frank played basketball his freshman and sophomore years and was a state champion power lifter his junior and senior years. He was ranked number one in the nation in his weight class as a power lifter by USA Power Lifting in 2003 and won the National Power Lifting Championship in 2004. He also threw shot put and discs for the Viking track team. Frank was the treasurer of Students Against Drunk Driving, a member of the National Honor Society, a peer mediator in Positive Peer Intervention and a four-year member of the Viking weightlifting club. Frank earned eight varsity letters at Walled Lake Central.

 

Academically, Frank maintained a 3.5 GPA and was on the Honor roll all eight semesters in high school and graduated in the top 20 % of his class.

 

Frank thanked his father, mother and family for their continued support throughout the years. He thanked all his coaches, “who made a tremendous positive impact on my life. Particularly, Coaches Chuck Apap, Tony Jankowski, Bob Meyer, Jim Calhoun and Bob Guttovz. Their support and guidance throughout high school, on the field, in the classroom and in life was very important.” Thanks also went to all of his teammates and friends that supported him throughout everything. “Above all and most important, I would like to thank God for giving me the ability and love for the game.”
