Drew started playing football in fourth grade and was a running back and linebacker at Holy Family for five years. When he went to De LaSalle, he moved to defensive line in his sophomore year and started three years on varsity. Drew led his team in most tackles for loss in both his junior and senior seasons and is the school record holder for most career tackles for loss with 39.5. He also had 17 career sacks and 16 hurries. On the offensive side, Drew played tight end. He was a team captain in his senior year. In both his junior and senior seasons, Drew was named All Catholic (Central Division), All Macomb County, All State (Detroit Free Press) and All Metro East. De LaSalle lost in the first round of the playoffs in Drew’s sophomore and senior seasons and won the Division 2 State Championship in 2014.
As a freshman and sophomore, in addition to football, Drew played on De LaSalle’s JV basketball team.
Drew gave “special thanks to all the great people who have helped me become the man I am and the player I am today. I especially thank my family. I have the greatest parents and the greatest family in the entire world and I wouldn’t be me without them.” Drew had ten Division 1 scholarship offers but elected to accept a preferred walk-on position at Michigan State.
