De’Juan is the son of Brian and Nina James. He has a younger sister, Daleth (13). He was born in Cincinnati,Ohio but grew up in Kalamazoo and Portage. He tried out many different sports as a kid including baseball, soccer and basketball but found football to be the one for him.

In high school De’Juan played football all four years and started running track his sophomore year. He lettered and started in both sports starting in his sophomore year. He was a part of two district championship teams and a conference championship. He had over 2,800 yards rushing and 33 touchdowns over his career including 1,566 yards and 22 touchdowns as a senior and a team record of 7-4 losing in the second round of playoffs. He was a team captain his senior year and team MVP as a junior and as a senior.

He attributes his success to his family and coaches. ” I really couldn’t have had such a fun career without my family supporting me and having such great coaches these past couple years. I’m grateful to everyone that’s helped make these years special including PC supporters and boosters and most importantly God for the ability and blessings he gave me.”
