Corban Olson is the son of Bryan Olson and Dionna Rife, and step mother April Olson. Corban has three older sisters Erica, Jenessa and Morgan. He is currently residing with Adam and Shannon Potgiesser and their two daughters Hope and Faith.
Corban began his football career playing at Three Rivers during the sixth and seventh grades. He then moved to Lawton and competed in football from eighth grade through his senior year. Corban played three years of varsity football where he made an immediate impact. As a sophomore and junior he was voted second team All Conference as an offensive player. His senior season he was voted first team All Conference, Kalamazoo Gazette All Area, Honorable Mention All State by the Detroit Free Press. Corban was a key part of a Lawton Blue Devil football team that made history by winning a conference title for the first time since 1986 and became the first 9-0 team in school history. During his impressive senior season, Corban broke 11 individual football school records including most rushing yards in a game, longest run in a game, most rushing yards in a season, most rushing yards in a career, and most rushing touchdowns in a game, a season, and a career. He also finished with 1,529 rushing yards on 122 attempts which is an impressive average of 12.5 yards per carry and was chosen as the offensive MVP for his team in 2010.
Corban has also been a part of the basketball and track teams in which he is part of two school records, the 400 meter relay and the open 100. Outside of the athletic arena Corban is a member of a local youth group through New Community Church and he also devotes his time working within a mentor program known as Kids Hope USA.
Coach Tony Karsen said of Corban, “He has grown and matured as a football player, but even more importantly, as a young man. He has dealt with some tough situations in life, but has pushed forward and has become a stronger individual. On behalf of the Lawton football coaching staff, we couldn’t be more proud of Corban’s accomplishments, his respectful nature, and his leadership.”
When Corban was asked to whom he wanted to give thanks he said, “I would like to thank God, family, my coaches, my teammates, and the Lawton community for everything.”
