    Cody began his football experience in the first grade in the White Lake Youth Sports Club. Cody began his high school football experience his freshman year playing wide receiver throughout the playoffs and reaching the semi finals. He was a three year starting quarterback for the Wildcats. Cody quarterbacked his team to the State Semi Finals his sophomore year before coming up short. His junior and senior years he led his team to back to back State Championships while breaking many state and Montague High School records. He broke the State of Michigan’s all time career touchdowns record while setting records including: most touchdowns thrown in a season and career, most passing yards in a season and career for Montague High School. He set many single game records including: most touchdowns thrown, yards thrown, and total offense. He was voted Offensive Player of the Year his junior and senior years by his teammates and the MVP his senior season. He was also voted to be the division 5/6 Player of the Year for the State of Michigan.

Cody also started in varsity basketball for four years. He reached 1000 points in the middle of his senior season and now holds the record for the most career points at Montague. In basketball he helped lead his team to the State Semi finals his junior year and to the State Regionals in his senior season.

Cody thanked his family. He said, “I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for the support from my brothers and parents.” He thanked the Montague football community for, “always believing in me and being behind me and my teammates.” Also he gave a special thanks to his teammates saying, “I have to give it all up to my teammates, they backed me up and were behind me in everything I did. They supported me and gave me a level head and I will be forever grateful for who they made me to be on the field.” He also gave special thanks to Coach Collins and the coaching staff and said, “They all have contributed to where I am today and Coach Collins especially has done everything he could to get me where I am. I will miss him and the whole Montague football program and I will proudly wear the blue and white forever.”
