2011 Assistant Coach David Nearpass
Jackson High School
Coach Nearpass was born and raised in Jackson, Michigan. He graduated from Jackson Parkside High School in 1980. After high school graduation Coach Nearpass attended Eastern Michigan University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in secondary education with a major in mathematics and minor in physical science.
Coach Nearpass has taught mathematics and coached football in the Jackson Public Schools since 1989. He is currently the linebacker coach and Defensive Coordinator and has been in this position for the last 15 years.
Coach Nearpass and his wife Laurie live in Jackson and have been married for 26 years. David and Laurie have three children, Keith (24), Amanda (21) and Ashley (19). “Having the opportunity to coach in the Michigan High School Football game is both an honor and privilege. To be surrounded by so many quality athletes and the amount of knowledge is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I’m very grateful to those who made arrangements that have allowed me to participate in this wonderful event.”
