At the age of five Chris began playing football. He participated on various PAL teams, but could not play due to weight restrictions. It wasn’t until seventh grade that he was able to “show off his talent.” Chris was a three-year, two-way starter for the Eagles. As captain in his senior year, he lead his team for the second straight year to the Oakland Athletic Associations Playoffs. As a senior Chris received Defensive Player of the Year, MVP and Iron Eagle awards. He was second for most tackles in a season with 141 and also second in all time career tackles with 329. In his three-year varsity career, Chris had 110 solos, 183 assists, 31 tackles, for loss, 6 sacks, 10 hurries, 2 interceptions, 8 fumbles caused, 2 fumbles recovered and 30 big hits. On offense he had 90 carries for 458 yards, 5 touchdowns and 2 PAT’s.
Chris is the 2008 Division 2 Wrestling State Champion in the 215 pound weight class. He was a four-year member of the varsity wrestling team and placed 4th as a junior in the 285 pound weight class. He was a two-time Oakland County Champion, four-time District Champion and two-time Regional Champion. Chris is second in career wins in Ferndale’s history with 171.
Chris thanked “God for everything he has provided” and also thanked his Ferndale High School team mates, teachers, Eagles Nest and coaches, especially coaches Bob Jones, Ryan Dunlap, Charlie Morgan, John Bassier, Fred George, Keith Thibodeau, Wil Davis, Marcus Huyck and John Olsen.
