Chris is the son of Conrad and Terri Calvano. He has five siblings: one older sister, two older brothers, and two younger brothers. Angela (23) plans to become a physical therapist’s assistant, Matt (21) currently attends Michigan State University, and Sean (19) currently attends Grand Valley State University. Jake (14) and Daniel (8) also play football and plan to follow in Chris’s footsteps.
Chris started wrestling in the second grade and continued to wrestle through his senior year. He finished his career as a two time state placer. As a junior, Chris finished third in the state and as a senior he was the Division 1 State Runner-Up in the 189 lb. weight class.
In the fourth grade, Chris began playing football for the first time with his brother Sean. The last time they would play together was the first playoff game of Chris’s sophomore year. A three year starter on varsity, Chris earned Detroit News Metro North Honors and tallied All Conference, All League and All State plaudit. As a senior, Chris was named captain by his teammates. As a linebacker, Chris led the team with 93 total tackles, 52 of which were solo.
Chris said, “I am thankful to have had the chance to play for the people who coached me, the friends and family that supported me, and the teammates I grew up with.” He added, ” I am also thankful for the valuable life lessons that athletics has taught me. Sports teach us to do things that we don’t want to do, and that comes in handy in everyday life.”
