Charlie began playing football as a third grader in Columbia, Missouri. After moving to Saline in 2000, he played a variety of roles on both the offensive and defensive lines. He settled in at center as a freshman, and the squad finished the season undefeated. He missed his sophomore year of football due to a knee injury, but came back to start two consecutive seasons at center for the varsity Hornets. In 2005, he was voted Most Valuable Offensive Lineman by his teammates and coaches. In 2006 he was named a captain, participated on Leadership Council, and helped his team earn Southeastern Conference and District championships.

Charlie can be found in the weight room year-round. He maintains a 3.4 GPA, and is a writer for the Golden Sting, Saline’s student newspaper.

Charlie thanked his parents, siblings and grandparents for, “their unwavering encouragement and loyalty throughout my football career.” He also thanked Saline’s coaching staff; his fellow captains, Vince, Mike and Joey, all his teammates, and high school teacher Juan Lauchu for their friendship and guidance through the years. “Thanks for guiding me, and providing love and support in both my successes and failures.” Charlie will continue his academic and football career at John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio.
