Brent started playing football in 2001 for the Lakes Area Hawks. He moved to the Walled Lake Braves where he played for five years. Brent grew up with football; his dad coaches at Walled Lake Western. He said, “I looked up to all the players and dreamed of one day being a Walled Lake Western football player.” He added, “Both of my parents have always supported me in my athletics, especially football.” Brent started in his freshman year on the JV as a starting QB and LB. He was moved up to varsity halfway through the year. He was a two-year captain, started at TB and LB in his senior year and led the team to the state semi-finals, a city championship and a division championship. Brent is the school record holder for longest fumble recovery for a TD (56 yards), most first hits in a career (256), most assists in a career (205), and longest punt average in a season (41.9 yards). He also rushed for 1,046 yards and 14 total TDs as TB. On defense he recorded 141 total tackles, 9.5 sacks, 3 caused fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries and an interception.

Brent also ran track, wrestled, and was a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and National Honor Society.

Brent said, “I thank my Mom and Dad for always supporting me regardless of my decisions. Especially my Dad and Coach for all he’s taught me about football and the opportunities presented from growing up around the game.” He thanked his brother, Trevor, “for all he’s done for me and all the support he’s given me on and off the field. My grandparents and family for everything, whether it was giving me rides to practice when I was younger because my Mom was at work and Dad was at practice or coming to support me on Friday nights.” He thanked his brothers, his teammates, “it was the greatest experience and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.” He thanked his “coaches for all the time they put into us players, all they sacrificed and the countless hours of work put in for us to be so successful. I thank our AD, Mr. Donohue for always making football a priority at Western and all he’s done for me and the football program.” He also thanked Jim Kielbaso and his training staff at Total Performance Training Center in Wixom. He included the “booster club, Alissa our trainer, and everyone else who did all the work behind the scenes who made my experience at Western so great.”

Brent will further his education and football career at Kalamazoo College where he plans to study business.
