Bennett Lewis is the son of Scott and Julie Lewis. He has one sister, Taylor Ann (16).
Bennett started playing football as running back in sixth grade at St. Stephen’s. He was team captain his freshman year at Nouvel Catholic Central. He was moved up to varsity in his sophomore year and earned All Area Honorable Mention and First-Team All Area Honors in his junior year. In his senior year he led the Panthers (13-0) to the Division 7 State Championship at Ford Field, tying a state finals record with five touchdowns – all in the first half. He earned First Team All State Honors in his senior year and had 2134 rushing yards and 44 touchdowns, with 176 carries averaging 12.1 yards per carry. Bennett was named Associated Press Division 7-8 Player of the Year.
Bennett also played freshman basketball, ran track all four years and was a member of the power lifting team for his final three years.
He said, “I want to thank my family for their love and support and for always being there for me. I also want to thank Mr. Boyd and all of my coaches over the years for pushing me to succeed and a special thanks to all of my teammates who I am so proud to have played with. I could not have done it without them. I will never forget the great memories of playing football for Nouvel and the incredible experience of playing on Ford Field.”
Bennett will attend Hillsdale College in the Fall where he will study biology and play football.Bennett said, “Thank you to my family, especially my mom and dad and Taylor. Also many thanks to Mike Boyd, and all my coaches, and a special thanks to all my teammates and the Nouvel family for all their support.”
