Austin began playing football in the third grade. In his youth, he played on the offensive line and at linebacker. As he grew older, he focused on the defensive side of the ball and continued to excel at linebacker. He started four years on the varsity team, and helped his team to a regional championship during his junior season and participated in a state semi-final game. Austin led the team in tackles during the 2013, 2014, and 2015 campaigns. Austin was a two-time captain and was awarded the outstanding underclassman award twice from his team along with a defensive MVP award his senior year.

In addition to football, Austin enjoys spending time with family, riding snowmobiles, and hunting. He was a part of the National Honor Society and participated in powerlifting. He received the bronze and silver academic awards during his time at Almont High School.

Austin gave a special thanks to his parents, siblings, and grandparents. “Without your past and continued support, there is no way I could have made any of my success possible. I will continue to use this support to grow as a person on and off the field.” Austin will attend Michigan Technological University to further his education and football career.
