Alex was a two-year starter on both sides of the ball for the Negaunee Miners. On the defensive side he compiled 160 tackles (15 for loss), 10 sacks, and 4 fumble recoveries. On the offensive side he averaged an 87.5% lineman grade for the 2005 season. In 2004 he helped the Miners to a 9-0 regular season and an appearance in the regional finals. Alex will attend Michigan Technological University and play football for the Huskies.
Alex also participated in a variety of other sports. He was an assistant captain on the CCI midget BB hockey team for the last two years and was named team MVP in 2004. He was on the varsity golf team for the past three years and will run track this spring. During the summer he played first base for the Negaunee Diamond American Legion baseball team.
Alex thanked his family for their support and encouragement throughout the years. He thanked all the organizations that helped sponsor him. He thanked the coaches, especially coach Jacobsen and the varsity staff, “for all the hours they put in to help me get to where I am today.” He also thanked the community of Negaunee for supporting Miner athletics.
