A.J. started playing football at the age of eight for the Wyandotte Indians Junior Football. His junior year A.J. started as a defensive back and wide receiver, where he had 39 tackles, 4 interceptions and 22 receptions for 432 yards and 5 touchdowns with 18 kick returns for 418 yards with 1 touchdown. That season his team finished 10-2 with MEGA White and District Championships. A.J. Received Honorable Mention All Mega White and Honorable Mention All Downriver.
His senior year, A.J. started at safety and wide receiver again, where he lead the team with 77 tackles, 2 interceptions, 24 receptions for 567 yards with 8 touchdowns. He was a special teams threat with 19 punt returns with 353 yards and 15 kickoff returns with 456 yards. A.J. had 1,376 all purpose yards.
A team captain, he was voted MVP by his teammates. He also was selected All Downriver, Dream Team All Downriver, 1st team All Metro West and 1st team All State as a defensive back by the Detroit Free Press.
A.J. also played basketball. He earned Honorable Mention All Downriver as a junior and All League and All Downriver as a senior. In spring A.J. ran track, where as a junior he was All Mega White and 4×4 league champion.
A.J. thanked his family, coaches and teammates who supported him for his four high school years.
