EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S BLOG (11/27/2020)
On the morning after Thanksgiving, it’s difficult not to observe that many of us would normally be venturing to downtown Detroit today and tomorrow to watch the state final games at Ford Field. We would be enjoying some great football, hanging out with our families and/or staffs and connecting with other coaches from around the state. Some would be soaking in the experience of playing for a state championship, creating memories for players, coaches, families and entire communities. But things are different this year. And it sucks for everyone! But we still have much to grateful for, not the least of which is the efforts and commitment of the MHSAA in getting us as far as we did with the 2020 season and planning for our remaining three weeks of playoffs. Here are some things the MHSFCA has going during this crazy time!
DIVISIONAL ALL REGION TEAMS
The MHSFCA has released it’s first ever All Region teams in all eight 11-player division and two 8-players divisions. The teams were selected in virtual meetings of all head coaches in each region, under the leadership of our MHSFCA Regional Directors. Members of these All Region teams are now eligible to be selected to the MHSFCA All State team in their division, as well as our Dream Team. The Dream Team will be honored at a virtual ceremony held in conjunction with our Winners’ Circle Clinic on January 15. See all the All Region teams at:
REGIONAL COACHES OF THE YEAR
Congratulations to all our 2020 MHSFCA Regional Coaches’ of the year, a selected by the head coaches in each region:
2021 MHSFCA WINNERS’ CIRCLE CLINIC WILL BE VIRTUAL
This year’s MHSFCA Coaches’ Clinic will be virtual on January 14-16. The format will be similar to years past, as we will offer 5-6 speakers during each session, offering a virtual awards ceremony, Dream Team ceremony, general membership meeting, etc. We have speakers (both college and HS coaches) from all over the country in live and pre-recorded sessions. All sessions will be recorded and available to clinic attendees for weeks after the actual clinic. The virtual format allows for more bang from your clinic buck, as the library of recorded sessions doesn’t limit you to one speaker only per session. Individual and staff registrations are available now!

MHSFCA MOURNS THE LOSS OF HALL OF FAME COACH
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of MHSFCA Hall of Fame coach, Mike Smith. Mike coached at Dansville, Eaton Rapids, Lansing Everett, Olivet College and most memorably at Holt HS. He was a great leader of young men, mentor to many young coaches and a friend to everyone he met. A full obituary is here:
