SEASON CONCLUDES WITH STATE FINALS IN JANUARY AT FORD FIELD
A rousing cheer should go out to all coaches, administrators, athletes and families that made having and completing a season possible.
There were moments when all this seemed unlikely, but the leaders at the Michigan High School Athletic Association continued to advocate for our sport and we reached the finish line with a fantastic weekend of state finals in Detroit. Congratulations to all the teams that made it to Ford Field and our divisional State Coaches’ of the Year! See the State COTY and Detroit Lions HSCOTY at http://www.mhsfca.com/.
DREAM TEAM HONORED VIRTUALLY
The MHSFCA, in conjunction with the National Football Foundation, honored the 2020 Dream Team in a virtual event on January 30. The Dream Team was selected from the MHSFCA Divisional All State Teams. This was an impressive group of players, most of whom are going on to play in Power 5, Division 1 college programs. Also recognized was Rob Zimmerman of Dewitt, who was selected as the Dream Team coach, as well as high school and college scholar-athlete award winners. A huge thank you to Awards Chairman, Jason Mensing, for his committee's stellar work on this project!

ACADEMIC ALL STATE TEAMS SELECTED IN COVID-ADJUSTED FORMAT
The 2020 MHSFCA Academic All State individuals were selected in an adjusted format, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Though the team format was abandoned for this season, more individuals were recognized as Academic All State than ever before. Thanks go out to Al Boydston for his vision in adjusting this process in an unforeseen environment. UNSIGNED SENIOR SHOWCASE CANCELLED
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Unsigned Senior Showcase for 2021. It is our full intention to resume this program in February of 2022.
HALL OF FAME PROCESS ON HOLD
Due to statewide Covid-19 restrictions on large gatherings, we have suspended our Hall of Fame selection process until we have a clearer picture of when we can honor our next class of inductees. We are exploring possible format changes in the Hall of Fame banquet and will announce our plans as soon as they are firm. HOF co-chairman Jack Carlson and Steve Verburg are monitoring this situation and will have a great plan soon!
ALL STAR GAMES FOR 2021 ARE IN THE WORKS
Plans are in the works to have a live all-star game this summer. We are very close to finalizing these plans and will get information out to you as soon as things are completely set! Shout out to All Star chairman, Brian Lemons, and his committee for their diligent work on this classic MHSFCA event.
SPECIALIST OFF-SEASON TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES
In recent days, I’ve had some well qualified men reach out to me, offering off-season training opportunities for kickers and punters. Normally, I would not promote non-school training opportunities, but many coaches are not kicking technique experts and these young guys are highly qualified and experienced.
Ryan Anderson was a D3 All American at Olivet College, Big Ten Punter of the Year at Rutgers and has NFL experience. His promotional flyer can be accessed here:

MHSFCA WEBSITE UPDATES ARE COMING!!
We are acutely aware that our website is not all it could be in terms of meeting the needs of our membership. We are in the process of selecting a new Web host. This new provider will be expected to provide a more user-friendly experience for both members and our web team, including more efficient registration functions, better graphic capabilities, great customer service, and a more affordable price for the MHSFCA.
