Troy is the son of Russell and Audra Sassack.  He is the second oldest of four siblings, brothers Evan (19) and Kyle (13) and sister Jenna (15).

Troy began his tackle football career in fifth grade at age 10. In his freshman year he played on the JV team.  In the fall of his sophomore year he earned a spot on the varsity, where he started as a defensive back and played a situational role as a wide receiver.  He got an early taste playing at Ford Field in the CHSL Championship game and in an MHSAA playoff game.  In his junior season he, “went from being a contributor, to a leader for my team”.  He led the team in receptions and interceptions, playing both ways for the Fighting Irish.  As a junior a coach suggested he had the talent to play in college and that inspired him to work hard to be better than the competition. As a senior captain, Troy led the team to the best season in school history with a 10-1 record, Division Championship, Prep Bowl Championship, undefeated regular season, and hosting and winning an MHSAA playoff game.  Troy led the team in all receiving categories with 35 receptions, 617 yards, and 12 total touchdowns and was awarded Most Improved Player.

Away from the gridiron, Troy started for three years on the varsity basketball team.  As a senior captain he was awarded All League.

Troy said, “I would like to thank God for blessing me with all of my talents and abilities, and surrounding me with incredible people who have shaped me into the person I am today.” He thanked, “my parents and family, especially my brother Evan who has inspired me these past four years and who I will be playing against in college and everyone who has supported me at my sporting events, especially my Uncle Fred and Aunt Alice.”  He also gave a “special thank you to my coaches and teammates for giving me the memories that will last a lifetime and a high school football career that I will never forget.”
