When asked what he loves most about life his response is and always has been football, “football, football.” Matthew started playing football on the Rocket football team and has never stopped. He still works with the middle school football team. Some of his favorite football teams include the Miami Dolphins and the Tennessee Volunteers.

Matthew helped take the Saint Joseph Bears deep into the playoffs in both his junior and senior years. Coach Uzelac said he was “the leader of the offense. With his effort and his intensity, we were able to move the ball pretty successfully. With his help the offense scored 389 points on the year. Matthew has football in his heart and soul and has the keen ability to help the team join as one.”

Matthew was undecided which college to attend “but ultimately I want to further my football career and major in business.

Matthew won many awards his senior year, among them: St. Joe HS MVP, All-State, All Division Team, SJHS Offensive Champion, All-Southwest Team and the Detroit Free Press Dream Team. He also was first team All Conference for three straight years.

Matthew thanked his mom and dad, his sister Emily, Grandma Fellner, Grandpa Mattox, Aunt Vickie, the Saint Joseph Football coaching staff, and the Saint Joseph football fans, “for all their support.”
