Lance set many season and career school records including rushing for 2005 yards and scoring 30 touchdowns his senior season. His 4,899 total yards, 4,376 rushing yards and 56 touchdowns are also school records. Lance accounted for 202 points during the 2004 season, ranking him among the top single season scorers in Michigan High School football history.
Lance was named first team All Conference three times as a running back and twice as a linebacker. Lance was also selected to the Saginaw News Dream Team, the Bay City Times Dream Team, and First Team All State by the Associated Press, The Detroit News and The Detroit Free Press. Lance was selected to captain the Division 7 All State Team, and was named the Class C Player of the Year by the Associated Press. Lance was also a key member of the 2005 Class C State Runners-up basketball team. He also excelled in track and field where he qualified for the Division 3 state meet as both a sophomore and a junior in the pole vault.
In addition to excelling in athletics, Lance was a member of the National Honor Society, Vice-President of People Helping People, and earned Academic All Conference awards in eight different seasons. Lance was also recognized as the Scholar-Athlete of the Week by WNEM-TV5 and The Saginaw News. Lance finished his academic career ranked fifth in his class with a 3.9 grade point average.
Lance will continue his education at Grand Valley State University where he plans to study for a medical career. He will also participate in football for the Lakers. He thanked, “God, family, teammates, and coaches for keeping me on track and helping me achieve my goals.” He also thanked the USA Athletic Boosters and the community for all the support, care, and kindness they have provided over the years.
