Jacob is the son of Enos and Heather Rivers. He has an older brother, Cody (20), who attends Ferris State University. He has five younger siblings, Zachary (17), Christian (16), Reonna (15), Caleb (13) and Allison (11).

Jacob started playing football in the third grade with the Morrice Orioles youth football program. Jacob played on the varsity team starting his sophomore year. His junior year, the football program agreed to a two-year eight-man football program. He played running back, receiver and outside linebacker, recording 12 tackles on defense and 99 carries for 708 yards and 12 touchdowns, 16 receptions for 207 yards and 1 touchdown.

Jacob’s senior year ended with a loss to Deckerville in the regional final. Morrice finished 9-2 (being the first in school history to win 9 straight games). His season stats were 41 tackles and 3 interceptions (pick sixes), 110 carries for 1292 yards and 22 touchdowns (two 99 yard touchdowns) with 57 receptions for 1020 yards and 17 touchdowns. Jacob also had 9 kickoff returns for 423 yards (long of 94) and 10 punt returns for 232 yards (long of 80) with a total of 3072 all-purpose yards. Jacob holds numerous Morrice football records. He holds the most receptions in a game (13), most receiving yards in a season (1020), most career receiving yards (1227), most yards receiving in a game (278), most receptions in a season (57), most career receptions (63), most receiving touchdowns in a season (17), most receiving touchdowns in a career (18), most touchdowns in a game (6), most touchdowns in a season (46), most touchdowns in a career (61), most points in a season (292), most points in a career (396), and most points in a game (38).

Jacob played four years of basketball in high school and ran four years of track and field. He plans to play football at Olivet College and study exercise science to become an athletic trainer.

Jacob thanked his mom for, “Supporting every decision I made and for all the love she has given me.” He thanked his coaches for, “Teaching me more about the game and making me strive to do the best I could.” He thanked the Morrice community for, “being such great fans and being supportive.” He gave a special thank you to Coach Crockett for, “being by my side through my high school career. He really taught me a lot about the game. He helped make me into the person I am today and I couldn’t ask for a better coach.”
