Jake is the son of Mark and Denise Doetsch. He has a twin sister, Ava, and an older sister, Alexis (21).

Jake started playing football in the fifth grade at Our Lady of the Lakes and played for Lakes teams through graduation. Jake played many positions for Lakes including running back, linebacker and kicker. With a 4.6-4.7 forty-yard dash and a 35 inch vertical jump, Jake excelled at whatever position Coach Boyd played him. While Jake was a four-year starter on varsity, whether at kicker, linebacker, defensive line or running back, he has a few accomplishments that stand out. As a freshman, Jake kicked the winning field goal against Deckerville as time ran out to win the district finals. He kicked multiple field goals over 40 yards and kicked three field goals in one game as a junior. During Jake’s senior year, he led the team and the county in sacks with 19.5 and had 84 tackles and 30 tackles for loss and was named 1st Team All State.

Jake also excelled in basketball at Lakes, starting on the JV as a freshman and being pulled up to varsity at the end of his freshman year and playing on varsity through graduation as a starter. Jake also ran track as a sophomore and won medals in both the 400m and 1600m relay.

Jake thanked his mom for “always supporting me and making sure I was properly fed, rested and got to practice on time.” Jake said, “I especially enjoyed having my grandparents attend my games and visiting with me afterward. Jake thanked Coach Boyd “for his patience and for teaching me the importance of hard work in order to become the player I wanted to be.” Jake also thanked Coach Josh Sawicki, Coach Glover and Coach Smith “for making my senior year a fun and productive season.”
