Clinton started playing football during his freshman season, and made his varsity debut that year.  He joined the varsity during the playoffs and made the most of his opportunities rushing 1 time for 64 yards and a touchdown.

He spent the next two years of his career as a mainstay in the backfield on the varsity.  During his sophomore year he rushed for 1,341 yards on only 116 carries and he scored 21 touchdowns.  During his junior year he rushed for 1,560 yards on 125 carries and he scored 24 touchdowns.  Clinton graduated high school in only three years, so during his two year varsity career he managed to rush for 2,901 yards on only 241 carries, and he scored 45 touchdowns.  He averaged nearly 12 yards per carry in his two varsity seasons.  Clinton was named the South Bend Tribune Player of the Year in 2008, and during his high school career, he managed to score a touchdown on his first carry in all four of the playoff games he competed in.

Clinton not only excelled in football, but he was also a three-year starter on the varsity basketball team, and he competed in four different events in the Division 3 State track meet.

Finally, Clinton thanked his parents, the fans of Buchanan sports, his teammates, and his coaches.  He said, “I know that without these people my dreams may never have come true.”
