Chris started playing football in the Ovid-Elsie youth program in seventh grade. He began on the offensive line. As a freshman he was brought up to the varsity to play linebacker, and as a sophomore, he took over the tailback duties. It was in that year that he began a consecutive 100 rushing yards a game streak that became a new state record (27 straight games). As a junior, Chris rushed for 2,844 yards (3rd all-time), and 41 touchdowns (2nd all-time), as he helped lead Ovid-Elsie to their first ever state finals trip. Along the way Chris earned team MVP honors, and was named a team captain for the 2009 season. In Chris’ senior year he helped lead the Marauders to their first ever undefeated regular season, and posted totals of 2,696 rushing yards (9th all-time), and 40 touchdowns (3rd all-time), again earning team MVP honors. For his career he rushed 814 times (4th all-time) for 7,123 yards (4th all-time), and scored 99 total touchdowns (3rd all-time). He also recorded 260 tackles and 6 interceptions starting at line backer and strong safety.

Chris also represented the Marauders in varsity baseball, varsity basketball, (where he earned all conference awards averaging 10 points and 7 rebounds per game), and varsity track and field (where he was the Tri-Valley Conference champion in the 110 hurdles, and also long jumped).

Chris expressed his thanks to his fellow teammates, and especially his offensive linemen, “who worked hard in the off-season in preparation for what was an amazing two years (08-09). I would not be here today if not for all of you.” He extended a special thank you to the people, “who have made a huge difference in my life, some more than they will ever know: Coach Goosen, “Mother Goose,” Coach Zalud, Coach Miller, Coach Long, Coach Palus, Coach Cunningham, Coach Latz, Coach Briggs, and Coach Bukovcik.” Lastly Chris thanked, “my mother and father, and especially the communities of Ovid and Elsie for helping me develop into the person I am today.”
