Brandon Sowards is the son of Todd and Tina Sowards. He has two older brothers, Todd (23) and Andrew (22) who plays football at Ferris State University. Brandon started playing football at the age of eight for the Wyandotte Indian Junior football program. Brandon was a two year starter for Wyandotte Roosevelt High School. He played wide receiver and safety. As a junior he led his team to the Division 2 state semi final game with 74 tackles and 5 interceptions from his safety position. At wide receiver, he had 26 receptions for 512 yards and 6 touchdowns. Brandon was voted captain by his teammates for his senior season, in which he led his team to the Regional Finals and had 44 receptions for 1,045 yards and 17 touchdowns as a wide receiver and 43 tackles and 5 interceptions at safety. Brandon helped lead his team to the first 11-0 season in school history. Brandon was also voted MVP by his teammates after his senior season.

In addition to football, Brandon ran track and played basketball for three years at Wyandotte.

Brandon has decided to play collegiate football at Michigan State University. He thanked his family for being “my biggest fans and always supporting me.” He also thanked his “coaches over the years and teammates who have helped me develop into the athlete and person I am today.” He offered special thanks “to Coach Adams, Coach Carpenter, Coach Powell and the rest of the coaching staff.”
