Barry has been playing organized football since the fifth grade with the Junior Cougars. He was a three-year varsity starter for Lansing Catholic. He played both offense and defense. As a senior Barry primarily played nose tackle on the defense. Barry recorded 110 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and 10 sacks.

As a sophomore Barry played basketball. In his junior and senior years he played lacrosse for the Cougars.

Barry was picked by the Detroit Free Press for All State honors his senior year. He was also voted Most Valuable player. Barry was a leader and involved with many different activities in high school. He was chosen to be a “Warrior of God” members of which set examples for young adults as role models.

Barry thanked, “God first of all for letting me play the game I love.” He thanked his parents, brother, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends for the encouragement they gave him for “the many memorable seasons of football.” He thanked his teammates “for without them I would not have been able to achieve the goals I did.” Barry thanked his Coach Tony Costello and the entire football staff and Coach Tyus for pushing him to be the best he could be. He gave a special thanks to Father Joe for the support and encouragement to become a leader in both his successes and failures.
