Andy Schmitt

Quarterback

College: Eastern Michigan University

 

Andy was a two-year starter for the St. Johns Redwings football team. In his junior year, he helped the team win its first District Championship in Class A. He was named the team’s Offensive Player of the Year, as well as All Area Honorable Mention. In 2004, the Redwings made it to the Division 3 State Championship game and finished as runners-up. Andy was awarded the honor of being named to the All Area Dream Team, Class A All State Quarterback, Academic All State Special Mention, and the team’s Most Valuable Player.

 

Andy was a two-year starter for the varsity basketball team. He helped the team win its first district title in Class A his junior year. He was named captain of the team his senior year. He is a sprinter on the track team and was named sprinter of the year for St. Johns in 2004.

 

Andy has been awarded a football scholarship at Eastern Michigan University where he plans to study in the field of education.

Andy thanked his parents and family for all of their love and support throughout the years. “If not for them, none of this would be possible.” He thanked Coach Mariage and his staff, as well as his teammates at St. Johns, for their encouragement and for bringing out the best in him. He also thanked the St. Johns community, “for their wonderful support.” A special thanks went to his late Uncle Ken for inspiring him to follow his dream.
