A four-year starter, and two-way player, Andrew played in over forty varsity games. The Bulldogs made the playoffs all four years, appearing in two semi-finals. Andrew was a two-year captain, offensive Most Valuable Player his sophomore and junior years, and team MVP his senior year. With a career rushing total of 4,029 yards, and 47 touchdowns, Andrew spearheaded the Grandville rushing attack. He also saw a lot of action at receiver his senior year, catching 23 passes for 386 yards (16.8 avg.). He finished his career with 57 pass receptions for 822 yards and 8 touchdowns. A versitile player, Hawken also returned punts and kicks. Coach Sigler said, “He’s a threat to score whenever he touches the ball.” Defensively, Andrew played linebacker and defensive back, depending on what the team needed that week.

 

In addition to football, Andrew played four years of baseball and two years of basketball. Andrew led the Grandville baseball team in home runs, stolen bases, and runs scored. In the classroom, Andrew carried a 3.75 GPA and was a member of the National Honors Society. Andrew will attend Michigan State University this fall on a football scholarship.

 

Andrew thanked his parents, “for being there through the wins and the losses, both sets of grandparents for driving seven hours to come to games, and moving into town to be closer, and my brother for putting up with me.” He thanked Coaches Sig, Holden, Gobles, Gkekas, Bar, Brian Kehr and all the others for their support both on and off the field. He thanked his teammates, especially Lado, LeVand, Check, Skov, Dennett, and Jono, “for the games and memorie I’ll never forget.” More thanks were given to his friends who painted their chests, and all the community and fans for supporting the team at all the games.” Andrew also thanked the Dawgs Football Boosters for everything they’ve done for the program.
