EAST LANSING, Mich. (January 29th, 2010) – A collection of 88 of the top senior football players in the state of Michigan will end their high school careers by playing in the 2010 East-West All Star Game produced annually by the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association (MHSFCA).

2.05 Press Release – All Star Participants & Signing Day

“We are thrilled to announce the players and coaches for the 2010 East-West All Star Game,”said Gus Kapolka, head football coach at Manistee (Mich.) High School, and director of the game for MHSFCA.  “These young men close out their high school football careers with the great opportunity to play at Spartan Stadium against their statewide peers and in front of family, friends and fans who have supported them since they first signed up for football as youth. Of perhaps more importance is that these players will also form life-long friendships from the many East-West All Star game-week activities, and will also perform important community service involving local youth that will serve them well in the future.”

The players will participate in a host of daily activities from daily football practices to casual peer activities including movie nights and other activities, and will also visit Sparrow Hospital in Lansing to provide a bit of cheer to pediatric patients.

An East-West All Star Game media day will take place at the Duffy Daugherty Building on Thursday, June 17, at 10 a.m.  All players and coaches will be available for photos and interviews.

Past participants in the annual MHSFCA East-West All Star game include current NFL players:; Braylon Edwards (Bishop Gallagher); Antoinio Gates (Detroit Central); Vernon Gholston (Detroit Cass Tech);  Jake Long (Lapeer East), and Bart Scott (Detroit Southeastern).

Key supporters of the East-West All Star Game include GM UAW; McCann Erickson USA; Meijer; Blue Cross Blue Shield; and Farm Bureau Insurance.

Tickets to the East-West All Star game are $5 and are available at Spartan Stadium entrance gates on game day.
