Zack Malarney

Zach was a three-year starter for the Mariner football team. As captain his senior year, he was voted Best Defensive Lineman and MVP of Defense, he also holds the school record of 18 tackles for a loss. He also received the Vaughn and Bret Allegreen Memorial Coaches Award. His junior year, he was All League and All Area lst Team and voted Best Defensive Lineman. As a sophomore he was selected All League 2nd Team and All Area Honorable Mention.

 

Zach also participated in basketball, baseball and track.  As captain his senior year, he broke the record for assists/season and also holds the record for assists/career. He participated in JV baseball in 9th and 10th grades before switching to track in the spring of his junior year. Zach also worked the Junior Football, Flag Football and Bitty Basketball programs the past three years.

 

Zack said, “I’d like to thank my parents Mark and Susan Johnson for always being there for me through the good times and bad times of my football career. I’d like to thank my brother Ryan for giving me advice on the game and life. Last of all I would like to thank the varsity coaches of Marine City High School: Coach Bob Staskiewicz, Tony Scarceili, Mart Pollack, Bill Nesbitt, Joe Fregetto, and Daryn Letson, They have taught me a lot about football and even more about life. They were always there for me throughout high school and will be there for me after high school.”
