Zach’s football career started in 2000 with the Troy Cowboys where his father, Jim, played a large part in his fundamental skills and in his love and desire of the game. Zach was proud to play football at Brother Rice (his dad’s alma mater) and the legendary Coach Fracassa. He started playing as center and defensive line his freshman year, focused on offensive line his sophomore year and junior year and played o-line and d-line his senior year. In his junior year he contributed to his team winning the 2007 All Catholic League Championship at Ford Field. Zach was captain in 2008. His team voted him the Tim McLean Leadership Award, The Loyalty Award, the Joe Laurencelle Good Person Award, and the Tim Giradot Attitude Award. Zach took his drive for excellence into the classroom, where he earned a 3.745 GPA.
Zach devotes his off seasons to weight lifting and running, and throwing discus and shot for Rice’s Track team in the spring. His off season is all dedicated to “preparing to be the best” for his next football season.

I have supportive, devoted and caring parents, two awesome brothers, the best grandparents, Grammie, Nana and Poppy, and a tight-knit group of relatives. Being a Warrior has given me an extended family – my band of brothers. Most of all, I want to thank my Brother Rice coaches – a group of dedicated men that know how to bring out the best. I look up to each and every one of the Brother Rice coaches with great admiration. Coach Fracassa, you are a legend and I am proud to say I was one of your Warriors. Thank you for being my mentor and my friend.”
Zach will continue his education on a football scholarship with Hillsdale College. He plans to major in business or pre-engineering.
