He was brought up to varsity in his freshman year for the playoffs where the team lost in regionals. From there he continued as a three-year starter on the varsity offensive line as the team won back-to-back district championships and played in the regional finals once again. Among several other team awards, he was elected team captain his senior year and voted MVP by his teammates.
Zach also participated in varsity basketball and varsity track and earned several awards for his shot-putting skills including being a three-time regional competitor. He maintained a 3.6 GPA and earned Scholar-Athlete recognition during each sports season. Zach spends much of his free time volunteering in his community and abroad. He served as a mentor in the high school, was a member of the National Honor Society and actively participates with his church youth group.
Zach thanked his family and the community. He thanked coaches, Jim Webb, Todd Baker and Pat Hinkle for three “wonderful football seasons.” “I also thank Coach Jeff McDonald for all the off-season support through basketball. It really helped my footwork and conditioning, making me into a well rounded athlete. He helped me and guided me to be a success on and off the court.”
