Travis was a two-way starter for the Sandusky Redskins for three years as a fullback and outside linebacker. He was selected to the All Greater Thumb East Conference, and All Blue Water Area teams as a junior and senior as fullback, and was chosen as a member of the Class C All State team chosen by the Associated Press. In his junior year Travis helped to lead the Redskins to their first league title and playoff appearance since 1985.
Travis is the first student from Sandusky to play in the high school Michigan All Star Football Game.
Travis also played basketball and baseball for Sandusky.
Travis thanked his family, friends, coaches, teammates and the community of Sandusky for all their support throughout his high school career.
