Travis was a varsity football player for three years playing defensive tackle for his first two years and making the transition to middle linebacker his senior year. As team captain, he helped lead his team to a 7-3 season. He set school records for most tackles in one season (155), most tackles in one game (23), most tackles for a loss in a single season (23), and most tackles for a loss in a career (37). He was named team Rookie of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Spark Plug, and Most Valuable Player.

During his high school years, Travis earned four varsity letters for wrestling and three for football. In Wrestling, he was Conference, District, and Regional Champion senior year, and Conference and District runner-up junior year as well as a two time state qualifier. Travis participated in many other activities such as Assets Team, GoodWins, Spanish Club, Outdoor Leadership Training Program, National Honor Society, Student Council (where he served as treasurer), and Business Professionals of America (where he was local chapter president as a junior and state vice president as a senior). He also has maintained a 4.0 GPA.

Travis thanked his parents, coaches, teammates, teachers, friends, and community “for their continuous support and encouragement.”
