During his high school football career, Trace received many honors including: 2007 Leading Team Tackler with 267 Career Tackles; Senior Varsity Football Captain; District and Regional Champs (17 tackles) as well as making a Final Four appearance (15 tackles); and WSJM Student Athlete of the Week 2006.

Trace also participated in three seasons of basketball and was a basketball captain. He was also a member of the track team, and a two-year member of the National Honor Society. Trace was a National Merit Scholarship Finalist and will be attend Wayne State University to major in pharmacy on an academic scholarship and play football for the Warriors.

Trace thanked, “all of my coaches, especially Denny Dock (2008 Michigan Division 3 Coach of the Year, Steve Graziano, Bill Bancroft, Justin Coburn, Bob LaManna, Jarrett Burgess, Rick Medvin, Jeff Yauchstetter, John Vroon, and Dave Baker.” He also thanked Rocket Coaches, “Dave Schewe (my Dad), Rob Sanders and the side yard games that have made me tough.” He gave a “special thanks to Dr. Ackerman and trainer Dan Tinkey for keeping me in shape and the Lakeshore Football Booster Club, for making game nights so special at Al Stockman Stadium/Kohn-Lehmann Field.” Trace added thanks to Frank Battista and Karen Lemon, Al Pscholka and Denny Kniola for, “all the great coverage radio, website and photographs.” He ended with, “Thanks to the awesome community of Stevensville-Lakeshore and all of my parents, grandparents, family and friends that have been there to love and support me and cheer me on throughout the years.”
